Expand the state's development cooperation
The SPD wants to step up Hesse's international engagement and significantly raise state funding for development cooperation. The benchmark is the United Nations' 2030 Agenda. Municipalities and civil society groups are to get more support for related projects.
Hesse should work more with poorer countries. The SPD wants to spend much more money on this. Associations and towns should get funding more easily. A lottery should bring in money for projects at home and abroad. The United Nations' goals for sustainability are the guide.
Civil organizations in the Global South are to get reliable support, as are Hessian NGOs for their work at home and abroad. The Entwicklungspolitisches Netzwerk (development policy network) is to get more money, and the promoter program is to grow. The SPD plans an office in the state administration that advises and connects municipalities and designs its own funding programs; grant applications are to be handled there again and simplified. The environmental lottery is to become an SDG lottery, meaning one for the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The engagement is also to be visibly reflected in how government work is organized.
