Expand consumer protection and food inspections
The Greens want to overhaul consumer protection in Bavaria: more transparency, stronger legal protection, fair rights to sue and clear product labeling. Food inspection authorities are to get more staff and uniform guidelines. In the platform's view, consumer rights take priority over business interests.
The Greens want to protect shoppers better. Products should clearly say what is in them. Offices should check food better. They get more staff and better equipment for this. Advice centers should get more money. A new state center should protect data better.
The same guidelines for food and hygiene inspections are to apply across Bavaria, and the supra-regional inspection authority KBLV is to be strengthened. Soils and waters are to be monitored for the chemicals PFOA and PFOS, and microplastic pollution reduced. Consumer advice services as well as social, debt and insolvency counseling are to get more money and become more digital. The Greens want to merge Bavaria's two data protection bodies into one independent state center for data protection and information security with more staff.
