Reject gender-altering treatment for minors
The AfD rejects puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones and gender-altering surgery for minors. Such decisions should be possible only from the age of majority because, in its view, the consequences are irreversible.
Some young people want to change their gender. There are hormones and operations for this. The AfD does not want this for people under 18. Only adults should be allowed to decide this.
The platform points to a legal change from May 2021 which, in the AfD's view, made such treatment easier for minors. Hormonal and surgical measures must not interfere with children's natural development, it says. The party also opposes what it calls transgender ideology and early sexualization by the state or schools. Parental rights and the child's welfare should take priority.
