Block arms exports and sanctions in the Bundesrat
The AfD wants to vote in the Bundesrat (the chamber of the states) against arms exports to war zones, economic sanctions and constitutional changes for more aid abroad. The premier would travel to the US and Russia within 100 days to revive the state's economic ties.
Foreign policy is really a federal job. But the AfD wants to say no in the chamber of the states. It is against weapons for war zones and against sanctions. Sanctions are trade penalties against a country. The premier should travel to the US and to Russia.
The platform considers federal foreign policy harmful and argues that sanctions on Russia have hit the state's industry and farming without ending the war in Ukraine. Baden-Württemberg would therefore use its Bundesrat vote to withhold consent on arms exports, sanctions and constitutional changes for further billions sent abroad. The trips to the US and Russia are meant to start better trade relations with West and East. On US tariffs, the AfD says the answer is to negotiate with President Trump. The state would thus act as a corrective to federal policy.
