Ease burdens on farms and insure against extreme weather
The SPD wants to preserve the state's diverse, small-scale agriculture, cut red tape and protect farms against extreme weather with a dedicated fund. Farmers should be able to make a good living from their work.
The SPD wants to help farms. Farmers should have less paperwork. A fund should help when storms destroy the harvest. A fund is a pot of money. Young people should be able to do a voluntary year on a farm.
A new state law, working title Vorwärts-Landwirtschaft-Gesetz ("Forward Agriculture Act"), is to sharply reduce rules and reporting duties; the FIONA portal is to become the central point for all applications. Farms are to be strengthened in dealing with food retailers and the food industry, and specialty crops and winegrowing are to get better conditions. The agri-environmental program FAKT is to grow substantially, alongside contract-based nature conservation and an initiative for agroforestry. The SPD wants to push for a voluntary agricultural year (FAJ) on selected farms. Food waste in out-of-home catering is also to be tackled.
