Preserve farms and promote organic farming

There are about 600 farms in Hamburg. The Greens want to keep these farms. More farms should switch to organic. The city should lease its farmland only to organic farms. Farm animals should be treated better.
The platform names advice, marketing support and offers of land as tools; free advice, for instance on fertilizer use and biodiversity, is to be made permanent. Contract-based conservation, in which farms are paid for conservation services, is to be stepped up. The funding guideline for marketing farm products, which expires at the end of 2025, is to be developed further. Hamburg's particular landscape conditions are to be taken into account for area-based payments. In Hamburg, the party supports initiatives such as regional mobile slaughter units that are meant to reduce animal suffering.
