Speed up reconstruction after the flood
The SPD wants to move faster on rebuilding the areas hit by the July 2021 flood. Aid money is to be paid out more quickly, municipalities are to be supported in restoring infrastructure, and a special program is to be launched. The stated goal is that people there have the same opportunities as elsewhere in the state.
In July 2021 there was a severe flood. The SPD wants to help people there faster. The money for rebuilding should arrive sooner. Towns should get help for roads and buildings. There should also be help for mental health.
Application procedures for reconstruction aid are to be streamlined. A trauma center is to be set up together with medical and psychotherapeutic providers, and the SPD will push for more publicly insured psychotherapy practices. Psychosocial support services, including those run by volunteers, are to be better connected and supported. The special program "Aufholen nach dem Hochwasser" (catching up after the flood) could give affected businesses, for example, a temporary multi-year waiver of the local business tax and help municipalities improve living and learning conditions.
