End the special status of the churches
The AfD denies the major churches any claim to a special status. This concerns the state's collection of church tax and the Staatsleistungen (state payments to churches). The party argues that the churches have moved away from their Christian mission and are mainly active in social politics.
Today the state collects church tax for the churches. The churches also get money from the state. The AfD says the churches no longer have a claim to this. It says the churches mostly do politics today.
The target is the churches financed through church tax. Staatsleistungen are regular payments from the states to the churches that go back to historical expropriations. In the AfD's view, these churches no longer convey clear norms and role models, such as marriage between a man and a woman as the guiding model. Because the party says they act mainly as social-policy players, they should no longer be able to claim either advantage.

Cutting church privileges weakens the standing of religion, but is justified by the churches' loss of traditional values.
