Minimum pension of 1,200 euros and higher pension level
The Left wants to use the Bundesrat to push for a fundamentally different pension policy: a minimum pension of 1,200 euros, a pension level of 53 percent and no increase in the retirement age. Everyone in work would pay into one common system. According to the program, the goal is that no one is poor in old age.
The Left wants big changes to pensions at the national level. Everyone should get a pension of at least 1,200 euros. The retirement age should not go up. Civil servants, self-employed people and politicians should also pay into the pension fund.
The plan includes retirement at 60 after at least 40 years of contributions and a pension without deductions from 65. Pensions would be funded from contributions and taxes, ideally through an insurance covering all working people, including civil servants, freelancers, the self-employed and career politicians. The so-called mothers' pension would be equalized using tax money so that child-rearing periods count the same for children born before 1992. The party also sees a statutory minimum wage of at least 15 euros an hour as a contribution to decent pensions.

A new minimum pension, a markedly higher pension level and the inclusion of all working people would fundamentally rebuild the pension system toward more redistribution.
